Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association, Greyhaven Exotic Bird Sanctuary and the Wildlife Rescue Association of B.C. expected to receive funding
In a report going to council’s Standing Committee on Policy, general manager of Development, Buildings and Licensing Saul Schwebs recommends the grant money go to Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association, Greyhaven Exotic Bird Sanctuary and the Wildlife Rescue Association of B.C.
The report states that Vancouver Animal Services relies on these three groups to help its officers when they are called by the public to help with incidents involving birds, small rodents, feral cats and wildlife.“VAS recognizes the extremely important work that VOKRA does for the city’s feral, abandoned, injured and ill feline population,” the report states.The Greyhaven Exotic Bird Sanctuary has taken around 50 birds from the VAS over the past few years and it is recommended to receive $4,887.
The Wildlife Rescue Association of B.C. is expected to receive $2,729 to help offset the costs of providing specialized diets and creating educational material for proper hummingbird feeder care and maintenance.
