Thrawn has an anti-Jedi weapon that he used in Star Wars Legends, and if it gets brought over to the main canon, he'd be deadlier than Darth Vader.
Thrawn is Star Wars’ most popular ‘big-bad’ at the moment given his upcoming live-action debut, and based on his Legends lore, it seems like he may actually live up to the hype, as Thrawn’s ultimate anti-Jedi weapon that was featured in the comics makes him arguably even deadlier than Darth Vader himself.
Grand Admiral Thrawn is a character who was first introduced in Star Wars Legends, where it is explained that he was on a mission in the Unknown Regions for the Empire during the events of the original trilogy. Upon hearing of Palpatine’s death, he and his crew made their way back to the Star Wars galaxy for Thrawn to become the Heir to the Empire. In the retconned continuity of Star Wars canon, Thrawn is making his return similarly, but with a few key differences.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Thrawn Has Ysalamir in Star Wars Legends, Making Him Immune to the Force In Star Wars: Heir to the Empire #1 by Mike Baron, Olivier Vatine, and Fred Blanchard , Thrawn has tracked down someone he hopes will be a powerful ally as he attempts to claim the galaxy from the New Republic–which includes the likes of the known Jedi, Luke Skywalker. Thrawn finds Joruus C’Baoth, who is the mad clone of the long-dead Jedi Master, Jorus C’Baoth.
The Ysalamir are lizard-like life forms who evolved to be immune to the Force–or, more accurately, can repel the Force with an inherent opposite Force pulse, which creates a safety bubble around themselves and their immediate area. Thrawn had a Ysalamir on his shoulder when he approached C’Baoth for recruitment. So, even though C’Baoth launched an attack against him, Thrawn was totally unaffected, and that is why he is potentially deadlier than Darth Vader.
If Thrawn was in Vader’s position, this issue of Heir to the Empire proves that he’d be untouchable when hunting Jedi, allowing him to easily deliver the killing blows. Plus, this issue implies that Thrawn would even be immune to the Force attacks of Vader himself, thus elevating the idea that he is even deadlier.
