Quebec Premier François Legault is to give an update on the fire situation Monday afternoon.
More than 200 members of the Canadian Armed Forces are expected to help fight the fires and with evacuations.
in several parts of the province: northern Quebec, Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Outaouais, Côte-Nord, Mauricie, Saguenay–Lac-St-Jean, the Laurentians and the Lanaudière region.Mike Norton, director general of the Northern Forestry Centre at the Department of Natural Resources, says having this many fires from coast to coast at this time of year is not normal.
Smog warnings are also in effect for Abitibi-Témiscamingue, the Laurentians, Lanaudière, Mauricie, Montérégie, Centre-du-Québec and Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean.
