HOUSTON — Today's solar eclipse is an all-hands-on-deck event for the team atThe center has been working for over a year just for the April 8 eclipse.
"Eclipses happen all the time but not in a highly populated path like it is here and certainly not here in the Texas and Houston area," said Keesha Bullock with Space Center Houston. The occasion is being celebrated with activities for everyone who decides to take in the experience from the center."We have our pop-up where you can learn about the science behind the eclipse, make your own sun spotter so that you can celebrate safely and then certainly we’re ready for the big day tomorrow," Bullock said.
Around 6,000 people are expected to gather at the center and the team does have a plan in place for indoor viewing if the weather doesn't cooperate.Houston eclipse weather: Clouds in the forecast Monday, along with possible showers and storms "We'll have some live broadcasts from the path of totality from all around the country," Bullock said."Space Center Houston is also a science learning destination and so we want you to come here and celebrate and commemorate this moment but to also understand the science behind it and the curiosity and to really understand why this happens and what it means for us."
