Thomson Reuters surpassed analyst expectations for Q4 revenue, driven by investments in AI and content-driven technology. The company anticipates continued growth in the coming years and has allocated significant funds for potential acquisitions.

Thomson Reuters , a Toronto-based content and technology company, reported a 5 percent increase in quarterly revenue to US$1.909 billion, slightly surpassing analyst expectations of US$1.907 billion, according to LSEG data. CEO Steve Hasker, in a prepared statement, highlighted the significant progress made in 2024 and emphasized the company's continued focus on investing in content-driven technology that empowers professionals to make complex decisions confidently.

The company, known for its ownership of Westlaw legal database, Reuters news agency, and Checkpoint tax and accounting service, invested over US$200 million in AI in 2024 and anticipates maintaining this pace in 2025. Executives revealed that Thomson Reuters has approximately US$10 billion allocated for potential acquisitions through 2027. The company reported fourth-quarter adjusted earnings per share of US$1.01, exceeding Wall Street's projected profit per share of 96 US cents. Thomson Reuters projected organic revenue growth of 7 percent to 7.5 percent in 2025 and 7.5 percent to 8 percent in 2026, compared to 7 percent growth in 2024. Organic revenue is reported on a constant currency basis and excludes the impact of acquisitions and asset sales.
