“When I run, my glass always changes from half empty to half full.”
, which felt like the ultimate achievement in running for me. But on February 27 of that year, my life completely changed: I suffered a stroke.and three months shy of my graduation from dental school. That day, my husband was out of town and I went out for my training run. When I got home, I knew something wasn’t right.
I felt lightheaded, but thought nothing of it. Then, it was like half of my body fell asleep. My eyes wouldn’t track normally, so I stumbled over to my neighbor’s house. I was scared. When he opened the door, I realized that I couldn’t speak correctly. In that moment, extreme panic set in. With my medical background, I knew something was gravely wrong with my brain and my body. I honestly thought I was going to die. I could think lucid thoughts, but nothing in my body would work.
