Mandy Moore, who played the lead character Rebecca Pearson, reveals her shockingly low residual streaming pay for the NBC series This Is Us.
As actors take to the picket lines as part of the SAG-AFTRA strike, This Is Us star Mandy Moore opens up about her minuscule streaming residuals for the show. The singer and actress played the Pearson family matriarch, Rebecca, for six seasons and 106 episodes of the popular NBC drama which ended in May 2022.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Moore revealed the shockingly low streaming residuals she has received for This Is Us a year after the series ended. As she and hundreds of other actors took to the picket lines as part of the SAG-AFTRA strike, Moore says she received residual checks ranging from one penny to 81 cents from the NBC show's streaming deal with Hulu.
The residual issue is a huge issue. We’re in incredibly fortunate positions as working actors having been on shows that found tremendous success in one way or another... but many actors in our position for years before us were able to live off of residuals or at least pay their bills. I was talking with my business manager who said he’s received a residual for a penny and two pennies.
Streaming Residuals Is A Core Issue Of The SAG-AFTRA Strike Mandy Moore's comments help highlight how streaming residuals is one of the core issues of the SAG-AFTRA strike against Hollywood streamers and studios. On the picket lines, the actress was joined by Katie Lowes, known for starring in Scandal and guest starring in This Is Us season 6, who says she hasn't received any substantial streaming residuals from Scandal's deals with both Netflix and Hulu.
