23% of Americans turn to their moms over a professional financial advisor for money advice MothersDay
Most Americans learn valuable money lessons from their moms over their dads, according to a National Financial Educators Council survey released ahead of Mother’s Day this week. Some 1,200 people around the country were asked, “Which parent taught you the most about money and personal finance?” And 28.1% credited their mothers, compared to the 24% who named their fathers.
See: Prominent businesswomen and actors reflect on the life lessons their moms taught them in honor of Mother’s Day Dionna, a 26-year-old school coordinator in the Pacific Northwest, told MarketWatch that she still accepts financial guidance from her mom. “She always told me to pull out cash from the grocery store to save for a rainy day or to plan a surprise — so I get $20 cash back every time,” Dionna said.
