Someone named “Confused in Kansas” wrote to Chinae, seeking advice on an issue she’s having with her boyfriend: He won’t stop “liking” pics of models on Instagram, and she’s had enough. “Confused in Kansas” asked her boyfriend to unfollow these accounts, but he never follows through with the request. What’s a gal to do?
“I think this is a really common thing,” says Alexander. “You have to ask yourself: ‘Is this gonna be something that happens in the future, but in real life? Is it just photos?’” she adds. Alexander says the real issue may not be the photos, but the fact that the viewer’s boyfriend isn’t listening. “Is he hearing your concerns? Is it actually something he’s willing to change? It doesn’t sound like it,” she says. “This might be a bigger deal than you think,” she adds.
Alexander reveals she’s had this issue in past relationships. “If they respond well and say they’re willing to change, then it feels like you have this trust in your relationship,” she says. And if he’s not willing to change? Alexander says there’s no ifs, ands, or buts about it: “This might be, bottom line, a communication issue.”
