What you can only barely see is that that kayaker is turning around and looking at the shark and thinking, “Holy crap. I’m going to die.” How many of you founders have looked down a shark and gone, “Holy crap. I’m going to die”? Some of us have actually died!
June, being a modern woman, what does she do? She goes on Pinterest, and loads her Pinterest board with all of the things that they’re going to do. One of the things she’s looking up is the wedding cake, and she finds a wedding cake, THE wedding cake. She sees this cake, and it evokes some nostalgic beauty in her, and it gets her all warm and fuzzy.
Keep in mind, Pam never said anything about disgusting. She never said anything about eating. She said curtains. But by putting a real product into the hands of the real customer, June has now learned something important by watching what the customer does and asking her to react to the thing that is right in front of them.
June takes this data in. Disappointing though it may be, she and her cake-making friend spend the next month iterating. They don’t call Pam into the room again they just iterate. They iterate. They iterate. They explore different ways to work with white and texture.June: “Pam, could you come in and take a look at this?”
