Karen Gillan explains the new dynamic between Gamora and Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. When the two sisters were first introduced, Nebula seemed like a bitter, spiteful woman full of anger towards both Thanos and Gamora. However, as more of her traumatic past was revealed, it became clear that Nebula faced the brunt of Thanos' rage as she tortured her by replacing part of her with cybernetic implants.
Karen Gillan: They haven't really interesting dynamic now; even the way they greet each other is kind of hilarious. I won't give anything away, but they've switched places in a way. Nebula is now the more compassionate, evolved one and Gamora is the crazy, badass one who's willing to kill anyone to do what she needs to do.
