Tattoos have long been considered a taboo art form in Hong Kong. In recent years though, a new generation of tattoo aficionados have started to battle the stigma that surrounds them.
"Handle with care" because when I came back from Canada to go to high school, I enrolled in art school for two years, but then I dropped out. I have ADHD. I don't think there's enough awareness about that in Hong Kong, so people just think you're crazy or lazy. My mom would get so angry with me. Like many other Asian parents, she used to kick my ass a lot, so I was like no — “handle with care.” I understand why she was strict because she didn’t want me to grow up like her.
You have to make a wish or a goal and then you paint an eye and then when you complete it you paint the other eye. So, I haven't done it yet. I do have a goal, I guess it's changed since I got it but the main purpose was always to be the most beautiful I am, not just physically, but in every way. I don't know if I'm there yet. I’m going to grow out my hair a little bit more, get a face lift…[laughs].It's so dynamic and also it's speaking to being Asian.
