This neighborhood has the lowest life expectancy in Harris County. A grant is trying to change that.
Elizabeth Van Horn, an urban planner and public health analyst at Harris County Public Health who is the project manager for the effort, said she hoped the project would be able to make connections between history, infrastructure and the health of individuals. “It all impacts quality of life." The National Center for Health Statistics estimated the life expectancies in each census tract by using data from death certificates between 2010 and 2015 that were filed in state vital statistics offices.
