There were five players from Newfoundland and Labrador on the Canadian team that won gold at the 2023 International Street & Ball Hockey Federation Master’s World Championships held in Buffalo, New York recently. Canada beat the United States 4-3 in a shootout to win the title. The local members of the team are, from left, Ryan Delaney, Chris Sparkes, Terry Ryan, Mike Dyke and Jeremy Bishop.

On that team were North Rivers’ Ryan Delaney, Gander’s Mike Dyke, Mount Pearl’s Terry Ryan, Chris Sparkes of St. John’s and Corner Brook’s Jeremy Bishop. Prior to that, Canada knocked off Bermuda in the quarterfinals 8-2. Ryan had five points, including a hat trick, while Delaney and Bishop also contributed in the win.For the tournament, Ryan was the leading scorer from this province. In seven games, he had four goals and 14 points for Canada.
