The industry, which experienced record growth around 2017, appears to be leveling off.

In the first half of 2023, the Brewers Association, a trade group representing the craft beer industry, said craft beer sales were down for the first time since they started recording data.

The Lancaster County brewery cited the rising cost of goods and services among its reasons for closing after more than eight years in business. Liquid Art launched as Roy Pitz in 2008 when childhood friends Ryan Richards and Jesse Rotz, started brewing in the basement of a warehouse. Tattered Flag’s sale includes the 13,000 square-foot state-of-the-art brewery with canning and bottling lines, distillery, and full-service restaurant with seating up to 200 guests, for sale.633 Brewing at 118 Walnut St. in Waynesboro will be closing, after serving the community for about two and a half years. The closing date will be announced in November after the owners do one final fundraiser. An ongoing family illness was shared as the reason for the closing.
