In their search for a new head coach, the Ottawa Redblacks have narrowed the list of candidates to three.
Dyce, who turns 57 Saturday and is from Winnipeg, is a longtime and much-respected CFL coach. He was a receiver at the University of Manitoba, then a receivers coach for the Bisons before joining the Blue Bombers as receivers coach from 2003-09. He joined the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2010 and had several roles, including offensive co-ordinator in 2012. In 2015, he was named interim head coach following the firing of Corey Chamblin midway through the season .
The 49-year-old Washington, who is from Washington, D.C., is another longtime CFL coach who gets results and a lot of respect from around the league. Washington was promoted to assistant head coach of the Ticats earlier this year after serving as the defensive coordinator since 2019. He has 25 combined years of CFL experience as a player and coach and is a three-time Grey Cup champion .
After NCAA stops at Polomar College and the University of Wyoming, Mace was a second-round selection in the CFL Draft by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2007. He signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent. While he spent three years with the Bills, his CFL rights were dealt three times – to Hamilton, to Toronto and then to Calgary. Mace signed with the Stampeders in 2010 and played 40 games in the CFL.
