The Woodlands girls run past Grand Oaks to tighten hold on first place in District 13-6A

THE WOODLANDS — The Woodlands girls soccer coach Frankie Whitlock busted out her dance moves Tuesday evening, showcasing a postgame “The Griddy” to the exuberant delight of her team.The Woodlands tightened its grasp on first place in District 13-6A with a huge 3-1 win over Grand Oaks at home. The Highlanders have won eight consecutive games and are 11-0-1 in district play , 14-1-4 overall, in line for yet another district title.

The Grizzlies entered Tuesday unbeaten in their previous 11 games, with a string of five consecutive games of not allowing a goal. The Highlanders heeded their second-year head coach’s words and never lost poise. Instead, they turned things up a notch. The Highlanders took the lead on a header from senior Tasha Budisa on a perfectly placed corner kick in the 36th minute.
