The Winds of Winter will show Daenerys in a different light to past A Song of Ice and Fire books, and doing so will improve upon Game of Thrones.
Daenerys Targaryen’s TV journey came to a controversial end in Game of Thrones, but her book story will continue in The Winds of Winter - and not only will it be different to the show, but will also break one A Song of Ice and Fire tradition. Much like in Game of Thrones, Daenerys has been one of the biggest characters George R.R. Martin’s books.
Daenerys Will Finally Be Seen Via Present POV Characters In The Winds Of Winter Daenerys Targaryen has been seen through the eyes of two point of view characters so far in A Song of Ice and Fire - Barristan Selmy and Quentyn Martell - but only in the past tense. That itself gives some insight, but it’s different to reading the most immediate responses or truest thoughts as characters meet and interact with her.
There are also a couple of other options for Daenerys being seen in the present by other point of view characters. Victarion Greyjoy is also arriving in Meereen, hoping to win both Daenerys’ hand in marriage and her dragons to his cause. While Victarion seems likely to die, it’s possible he could meet Daenerys first, and he’s confirmed as a POV character in The Winds of Winter.
