A tie-in comic to Shazam’s upcoming DCEU sequel seems to confirm that the Teen Titans are, in fact, a part of the cinematic universe’s continuity.
It looks like Shazam just confirmed that the Teen Titans may exist somewhere in the DCEU continuity, and are popular enough to already have associated animated adaptations. A night of adventure in the Rock of Eternity brings up a curious Easter egg that raises the question of the iconic superhero team's current whereabouts in the movie canon.
In Shazam! Fury of the Gods: Shazamily Matters #1's story “Door to Death” by Zachary Levi, D.J Cotrona, Colleen Doran, and Freddie Williams II, the super-powered teens have gathered in the Rock of Eternity for a night of fun. And, as it turns out, expansion of the DC heroes already established in the film's larger universe.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY After opting out of watching zombie movies, the Shazam Family begins exploring the Rock's many doorways. Despite wandering into a seeming paradise, the siblings realize they've accidentally stumbled into Hades where they come into conflict with numerous zombies. After a terrifying battle, the team retreats back to their hideout where they decide to watch cartoons to take the edge off.
For all ground the DCEU attempted to cover in its movies, shows and tie-in comics, it never got to cove the wider DC Universe, and a lot of characters were left hanging. Seeing the Teen Titans reduced to a cameo as a cartoon might not seem like much, but it could be seen as a minor confirmation that the Titans are some part of the DCEU.
Fans may not know what the make-up of their team looks like or how long they’ve been around, but the Titans seem to have a small, but certain place in the universe. Fans can see the Teen Titans’ DCEU cameo in Shazam! Fury of the Gods: Shazamily Matters #1, on sale now.
