This movie is designed to be silly, fun, gruesome, and captivating, and it checks every box. The big twists and the clear subversions also added to the excitement of the story, ultimately creating something that was always going to play by its own rules, and smash expectations.A step up from its the previous film and one of the best movies in the entire DCEU. A shame that it bombed financially. Didn't stop James Gunn from getting that sweet DCU CEO position. Glad this exists.
It's a blend of what Guardians taught him to express, and his more cynical Troma/horror roots, with a lot of emotional heart, you fall in love with these characters who are a flick of a switch away from death, and that keeps you invested. The returning cast are great, Elba and Cena's chemistry and competitiveness is hilarious, and Ratcatcher is the best.Gunn's The Suicide Squad is an absolute thrill ride.
