The Stitches from the Heart Quilt Guild presented Extendicare Mapleview with 360 handmade mug rugs, a thoughtful gesture for the holiday season. Alison Young coordinated the effort, encouraging Guild members to participate in the challenge.
Residents of Extendicare Mapleview received handmade gifts from The Stitches from the Heart Quilt Guild on Thursday.
“We would like to gift every resident a little something for the holiday season. We hope they enjoy them as much as we enjoyed making them for you” Nancy Guzzo of Extendicare Mapleview was very grateful for the donation and said “We appreciate it so much and the residents will really appreciate them" who went on to say “We are so fortunate to have your volunteers do so much for us.
Guild Challenge Co-ordinator, Alison Young, encouraged members at the October Guild meeting to make a hand-made mug rug for every resident at Mapleview that will hold their cup of coffee or tea and a few sweets. “Mapleview has 256 residents and the Guild has just over 100 members” stated Young, “so I hoped that each member would make 2 – 3 mug rugs.
