A shocking new Star Wars theory suggests the Republic was created by the Sith as a trap for the Jedi - with the dark side hiding in plain sight!
A dramatic new Star Wars theory suggests the Sith founded the Republic, not the Jedi, radically transforming their 1,000-year plan to ensure the dominance of the dark side. Adherents of the light side believed the Jedi and the Republic existed in a state of symbiosis, with each flourishing alongside the other. Though the Jedi embraced the Republic, the Sith ultimately came to understand politics was the greatest weakness of the Jedi.
Star Wars: 100 Objects, by Kristin Baver, contains one of the few accounts of her past: "In life, Sistros was a Nouanese minister and lawmaker who was known to be an emotionless ruler. Cold and calculating, she was often accused of using her position during the formation of the original Galactic Republic for selfish ends." Sistros' philosophy had a profound influence on the Republic - and, disturbingly, on the Sith.
Before Darth Bane, the Sith had been many - but they had tended to turn against one another. Darth Bane recognized this weakness, but too late to prevent the fall of the Sith Empire. He established the Rule of Two to deal with this problem, mandating that there should only ever be a master and an apprentice, one to wield power and the other to crave it. Darth Bane was also the architect of the Sith strategy, believing the Jedi could be undermined from the shadows.
