At one point in “The Rhythm Section” my heart went out to the constantly embattled heroine, Blake Lively’s Stephanie Patrick. It was the only point, but in a movie as dismal as this one anything that elicits empathy is a plus.
The moment in question, part of Stephanie’s training as an assassin, finds her on a wintry day in windswept Scotland wearing nothing but her underwear, a rolled-up sweater over her shoulders, and a knitted cap.
