So the movie has a strange pedigree, all in service of a fun premise: the wannabe detective and the mystery novel fanatic find themselves on a luxe yacht that becomes the staging ground for an Agatha Christie-esque whodunit. They’re surrounded by a zany cast of suspects, including British minxes__Gemma Arterton,__ as a sultry actress, andas a suave boozebag with a villainous glint.
If only the movie would slow down to really finesse the parameters of its mystery. As is, the movie is much more focused on danger set-pieces than on inference and investigation.
