—the 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche Base Camp Prototype—that escaped the show circuit and eventually journeyed to Canada after its SEMA stint over 20 years ago. Do you remember it? OK if you don't, stranger if you do!
As a Beta prototype, the Base Camp sports parts and various build stickers dating back to 1998 and 1999, several years. There may be some funny business under the hood in the form of a 6.0-liter, which the Avalanche never got. It also seems the bright color-shifting three-stage yellow pearl is unique and wasn't a production color.
The inside is pretty snazzy with two-way radios, a Magnavox in-dash screen, an overhead DVD player with four screens in the headrests, heated and cooled cupholders, white gauge cluster faces, and a custom cloth interior with yellow leather inserts and Chevy emblem embossing.
