There was a cake. Her present was neatly wrapped. But for six weeks now, there hasn’t been a trace of Trinity.
Because the family lives in military housing, Trinity’s disappearance is being handled by the Military Police, with support from the OPP. Police have organized ground searches of the base and the riverfront, had Trinity’s phone and laptop examined by the military’s National Investigation Service, and contacted Tammy’s ex-husband, who raised Trinity from ages three to 14, as well as Trinity’s biological father. She had never left home before.
On the night of Tuesday, Feb. 12, Trinity went to bed as she usually did around 9 p.m., closing her bedroom door behind her. A winter storm swept across the region that night, dumping half a metre of snow on Petawawa. Patrick woke up some time after midnight to the sound of the toilet flushing then again at 4 a.m. to deal with a sick dog. He noticed Trinity’s door was cracked open, but thought nothing of it.Calls to Trinity’s cellphone went straight to voicemail.
“The thing that I love most about her is that she is who she is. She was, ‘This is me. This is who I am.’ And that’s why we clicked,” Serviss said. “She was nine when I realized she was smarter than I was,” Tammy said. “She came home from school talking about algorithms. I had to Google algorithms to find out what she was talking about.”“The MPs are following every lead they have, unfortunately there’s not new information and they can’t comment on the status of the investigation,” said Lt. Anne Côté, a public affairs officer with Garrison Petawawa.
