Green Bay Packers defensive end Dean Lowry had a big year in 2018.
Lowry, a fourth-round draft pick in 2016, began the year as a backup. But when Muhammad Wilkerson suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 3, Lowry stepped up and had his best season as a Packer.
Lowry had a career-high 15 pressures, posted 3.0 sacks, was steady against the run, and played the game as hard as anyone on the roster.Lowry has extremely short arms , but makes up for them with a non-stop motor, ideal size and terrific intelligence After a quiet rookie year, Lowry started 11 games in 2017 and made a dramatic jump with 11 pressures. Then after being a forgotten man last summer, Lowry stepped up with a big season.Lowry, who’s entering the final year of his contract, has become a critical piece of Green Bay’s defense. Lowry’s smarts and all-out hustle are impressive, and his athleticism is underrated.
Green Bay has solid depth up front. But the Packers should have learned by now that they function best when Lowry is on the field.
