Thousands of people filled the Shelburne waterfront on Oct. 14 to watch the action and partake in the fun of the annual
Murphy, also from Shelburne placed second in the regatta. Third place went to Adam Bisonette of Argyle. Atwood, of Barrington, finished fourth. Placing second at the Shelburne weigh-off was veteran Sandy Point pumpkin grower Francis Campbell with a 515-pound entry. Keith Bower, of Shelburne, captured third place and the best sportsmanship award with his 445-pound pumpkin.
The 2023 Shelburne Giant Pumpkin Festival and Regatta was delayed by one week due to post-tropical storm Phillipe blowing through on Oct. 7, the original event date.
