The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced Thursday that it would temporarily close to visitors, effective at the end of the day.
The Met has three locations in New York: The main building on Fifth Avenue, the Met Breuer on Madison Avenue and the Met Cloisters in Upper Manhattan. "Because we have been preparing for this possibility for several weeks, we have developed an operational plan that will now be put in place. Provisions have been made to support our community during this period of closure and cleaning, including for all salaried and hourly staff to continue to be paid. We will continue to monitor and provide another update by Monday, March 15."
