“It is with a shattered heart that I share that the brilliant Josh Grisetti took his own life on Friday,” Grisetti’s “Something Rotten! ” co-star Rob McClure wrote inSunday.
“I’m not ready to even attempt to understand. My heart is with his wife and family as they try to deal with the reality of this. ” After noting that he served as the best man at Grisetti’s wedding to wife Mackenzie Grisetti, he added, “Communities around the world will never be the same without him. We love you Josh.
”“It is with the deepest grief that I am sharing with you that our beloved friend Josh Grisetti took his own life on Friday morning. Nothing I can say will make this hurt any less,”.
“We all loved him so unbelievably much. He created light and thought and humor everywhere he went ... I loved the way he looked at the world and how he challenged ideals and norms. I loved his humor and his brain and deep deep philosophical conversations.
” Actor Josh Grisetti, who starred in"The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" and Broadway's"It Shoulda Been You," died July 10 at age 44.he’d stepped away from a production of “Legally Blonde: The Musical” that he’d been slated to direct for Italy’s Trentino Music Festival due to “personal reasons. ” In a group photo, the show’s cast held up a cell phone showing Grisetti’s headshot to signify him being a part of the company, which he subsequently“Literally cried on the plane… little gestures go a long way when your heart is hurting...

“Love this group of misfits right back!! ”A native of Washington, D.C. , Grisetti grew up in Rocky Mount, Virginia. The youngest of three children, he attended North Carolina School of the Arts and, later, Boston Conservatory, graduating from the latter in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in musical theater,,” winning a Theatre World Award for Outstanding Debut Performance as well as Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, Lucille Lortel and Drama League Award nominations..
” The musical was directed by “Frasier” actor David Hyde Pierce and starred Grisetti alongside Boggess, David Burtka and Tyne Daly.of Broadway’s “Something Rotten! ” in the role of Nigel Bottom, and would go on to reprise the role on the musical’s national tour. In recent years, Grisetti had shifted his focus to arts education and worked as an associate professor of theater and dance at California State University.
In 2023, however, he made a high-profile return to acting when he joined the cast of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” in the recurring role of Ralph for the show’s fifth and final season.
“To be able to walk that walk and then tell students about that journey and guide them and take away the mystique is important to me,”about balancing his acting and higher education careers. “A lot of acting and theater graduates are uninformed or fully lost in how the industry works and don’t do well and get overwhelmed immediately, and I don’t want that to happen to my students.
” Of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” he added, “It’s one of the smartest and best-run shows on television.
