While Leon Draisaitl needs a telescope to reach Alex Ovechkin’s all-time best 299 power-play goals , he is sixth best amongst active players with his 128, behind Ovie, Steve Stamkos, Evgeni Malkin, Joe Pavelski, Sidney Crosby and John Tavares.Draisaitl, who whipped past Glenn Anderson and Ryan Smyth’s 126 with his two goals in Nashville, is the No. 1 Oilers power-play guy of all-time and he’s clearly played far fewer games than Smyth’s 971 and Anderson’s 845.
Amongst current players, Tampa captain Steve Stamkos’s 195 PP goals have come in 1,005 games. Malkin’s 173 in 1,066, Pavelski’s 165 in 1,252 games, Crosby’s 164 in 1,193 and Tavares’s 134 in 1,032.Power-play goals are a unique talent. Draisaitl is on par with the mastodon Tim Kerr, who had 370 goals and 149 on the PP before shoulder problems KO’d the terrific Philadelphia Flyers’ forward. That’s 40 percent of his final total, in 655 games.
Now just 56 games from 1,000 in his NHL career, Eberle reached out to Cogliano to apologize after the reckless check but he knows the NHL pound of flesh code.
