“It’s the highlight of my week,” said Kerry Muise of the Rotary Club, who with Rotarian Steven Cipollone volunteers at the weekly cooking club. On this particular day, it’s Sonia Park-Lawrence, who with her husband Troy owns and operates the successful and popular Honey Bees Restaurant in Dayton, Yarmouth County.
“Hopefully they’ll continue to have a love for food and it will continue to grow,” she said. “It’s never-ending. You’re always learning. Hopefully, they’ll continue and turn into little chefs.” After the weekly three-month boys cooking club wraps up, they’ll be looking to offer a similar one for girls. It is also hoped to be able to offer both again during the next school year.
When word first went out about this weekly program months ago, it was fully booked within three days.
