Exclusive: MckennaGraceful is really interested in making a HauntingOfHillHouse spinoff focused on Theo happen. 'I would love to work with Mr. Mike Flanagan again. I just saw him recently, I thought that he's brilliant, and I loved doing that show.'
With nearly five years gone since the acclaimed series premiered, The Haunting of Hill House star Mckenna Grace says she wants a Theo spinoff show. Grace starred in the Netflix horror show as Theo Crain, the middle child of the family who would go on to become a child psychologist. Unlike her siblings, Theo was born with psychic abilities, which she inherited from her mother, Carla Gugino's Olivia, and wears gloves to prevent them from interfering with her life.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY While speaking exclusively with Screen Rant to discuss A Friend of the Family's finale, Mckenna Grace was asked of her interest in reprising her Haunting of Hill House, Conjuring Universe and Malignant characters. Though expressing a desire to return to all of them, the young star is especially interested in a Theo spinoff show, having even posed the idea to her co-star Kate Siegel.
I loved all of those. It was very cool to play Madison, and playing young Theo was magic. I literally just saw an article that said that Theo should have her own spin off series, and I sent it to Miss Kate, who played older Theo, and I was like, "Let's do it!" I would love to work with Mr. Mike Flanagan again. I just saw him recently, I thought that he's brilliant, and I loved doing that show. So I feel like I'd love to revisit the field.
Given Flanagan has begun expanding his interest in building franchises with the likes of Doctor Sleep, The Haunting anthologies and The Midnight Club, it doesn't seem entirely out of the realm of possibility for a Hill House at some point in the future, especially one centered on Theo. Her career as a child psychologist alone opens the door to a variety of heartbreaking and important stories of childhood trauma to be told.
Theo isn't the only character with plenty of room to explore in a potential The Haunting of Hill House spinoff, as Michiel Huisman's Steven is also a prime candidate for further stories. Though having admitted to never seeing a ghost in the various books he wrote prior to the show's start, it would be interesting to see if his experiences with Hill House as an adult opened a doorway for him to finally begin to see the supernatural in future investigations.
