Kenora city council votes against anti-loitering bill after growing criticism

The bill was defeated in a 6-1 vote, with several councillors who originally backed the bill reversing their support.

Had it passed, the bylaw would have given police the power to fine anyone loitering on public property $100. “A loitering bylaw wasn’t the solution, it’s not even near a solution, it would racially target a lot of people who are vulnerable in Kenora,” said Cameron.
