A24 has dropped the first official trailer for British filmmaker Joanna Hogg’s ghostly sixth feature,Written and directed by Hogg with Martin Scorsese once again on board as Executive Producer, the flick follows an artist and her elderly mother who confront long-buried secrets when they return to a former family home, now a hotel haunted by its mysterious past.
Shot in secret in Wales during lockdown, the project re-teams long-time friends Swinton and Hogg after the recent two-partseries. Swinton is on double duty in the film, playing both mother and daughter. The small cast is rounded out by Joseph Mydell and Carly-Sophia Davies. Hogg produced the film with Ed Guiney, Emma Norton, and Andrew Lowe. Additional credits include Ed Rutherford as cinematographer, costume design by Grace Snell, editing by Helle Le Fevre, and production design by Stéphane Collonge.
The film debuted earlier this year in Venice and went on to play Toronto, New York, and London. In Deadline’s review out of Venice, Damon Wise described the film as a “fascinating foray into genre cinema.” will hit a very strange but significant nerve as a film about that time in our lives when the things that we take for granted are suddenly snatched away.”Must Read Stories
