The hot takes are flowing so fast and freely at the Worldwide Leader that its analysts can’t even keep track of which side they’re on anymore.
On May 6, with the Warriors-Grizzlies series tied 1-1, “First Take” host Molly Qerim asked Perkins if Curry needed another ring to “solidify his legacy,” before distancing herself with “I did not come up with this question.”
It’s a bad question, as Qerim seemed to recognize on the fly. Perkins, though, was incredibly clear in his answer: “Well Molly, let me say this, it’s not the title, OK, it’s the title along with the Finals MVP,” Perkins replied, after which you could see Stephen A. Smith’s eyes roll like no pair of eyes has ever rolled before.
“Man, if you don’t fix your body language when I’m talking to you,” Perkins joked with Smith, before going on to say that no one should “get bent and out of shape” because, great news, Curry is No. 12 on Perkins’ list of the top 75 players of all time — this man loves Steph Curry, you guys! But not as much as he tried to lead you to believe because Perk then went on to say Curry still can’t be in the Top 10 without a Finals MVP. Which seems to go entirely against the notion that “nobody ever said he needed to win a Finals MVP to solidify his greatness.”
