You can put that down to his marriage to Victoria"Posh Spice" Beckham, his cover model looks and, of course, his trophy-laden football career. But despite being one of the most recognisable faces of our time, we actually know very little about his private life – with even less coming from his own mouth.
Until now, that is. The 47-year-old has announced that an intimate docu-series is currently in production for Netflix. In anhe said: “I'm excited to confirm that I am partnering with Netflix on a documentary series about my life and career. The series will feature unseen archive, untold stories as well as interviews with the people who have been a part of my journey.
, the celebrated Michael Jordan documentary that became a lockdown hit, and the as-yet untitled series will be directed by the Oscar-winning Fisher Stevens and produced by the Emmy-winning John Battsek . According to Netflix: “It will have unprecedented access to Beckham’s personal archives, showcasing never-before-seen footage from the last 40 years, as well as modern-day recollections and candid moments. It will also feature interviews with Beckham himself and his friends, family and colleagues.”David Beckham: Into The Unknowndespite the obsessive levels of interest, Beckham has always been quite firm in never exposing too much of his personal life to the press or fans.
In fact, the only time we really got a glimpse into life at Chez Beckham, it was through the 2002 reality showwhich David very much looked like he didn’t really want to be a part of, and was in the hour-long show for a total of approximately 45 seconds: his bleach-blonde buzz cut, top-off, aviator shades era. Now the focus will move away from his popstar-turned-fashion-boss wife back onto the life and times of Beckham himself.
