The CFDA is taking steps to combat systemic racism and promote equality within the fashion industry

The CFDA — which oversees the fashion industry, its designers, and its events — shared its planson shared on June 4.

The CFDA board also outlined its plans in the statement, promising to “create an in-house employment program specifically charged with placing Black talent in all sectors of the fashion business to help achieve a racially balanced industry.” They said that they would help identify Black creatives and place them with companies.

Furthermore, the CFDA is implementing a Diversity and Inclusion training program and making “immediate contributions” to organizations including the NAACP and Campaign Zero. The board also encouraged its members to take a look around their business and its structure and see what needs to change.
