‘The Bottom Fell Out’: Key Analyst Hits Republicans With Dire Election Warning
Midterm Elections, Martha Raddatz, Charlie Cook

Charlie Cook predicted that Democrats will win both the House and Senate in November.

Independent journalism is facing unprecedented pressure. As newsrooms shrink, accountability disappears with them. Your membership keeps fearless, reader-funded reporting alive.

“There’s not a lot you can do,” Charlie Cook, founder of the Cook Political Report, told ABC’s Martha Raddatz on “This Week” on Sunday. Voters are angry over rising prices ― especially fuel ― and the impact of Trump’s tariffs.

“All these things came together at the same time, right as voters start paying attention,” Cook said. “It was almost like the bottom fell out suddenly. ”“It isn’t pro-Democrat,” he said.

“It’s anti-Trump, basically, and Republicans that have been supportive of the president. ”“The House has been kind of a done deal for a good while,” he said.

“But the Senate, a year ago, it wasn’t realistic to think that the Senate might flip. But now, it’s very realistic. ”would flip 20 or more seats in the House and likely four in the Senate, giving them control over both, although he warned that some of those Senate races will be very close.
