TheBatman star Jeffrey Wright celebrates the film's release with a Gordon throwback photo from the last day of filming. Check it out:
The Batman’s Jeffrey Wright, who plays James Gordon in the film, celebrates its release with a throwback image from the final day of production. Writer and director Matt Reeves’ DC reboot was released in theaters on March 4 and has since had the second highest-grossing opening weekend of the pandemic era.
Like many movies and TV shows the past couple of years, The Batman was greatly impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Production was postponed multiple times, and the film's release date kept being delayed. Making a big-budget comic book blockbuster is tough under normal circumstances, but The Batman faced numerous challenges on its path to the big screen. With the journey now complete, Wright is taking a moment to reflect.
Long before the release of The Batman, Reeves expressed his intention to explore the mantle of “World’s Greatest Detective”—which could not be achieved without his long-time ally. Even more so than Catwoman or Alfred, Batman’s relationship with Gordon is at the heart of The Batman. The pair have been a hit with fans and critics alike. The film is currently “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes with 85% critics score and 90% audience score.
