One of the greatest adult animations of all time has come to an end.

was unlike anything else on television; hilarious, but unsettlingly perceptive, a devastating exploration of depression, sweetened with silly animal puns and slapstick insanity.

The interviews that marked BoJack’s comeback, and subsequent fall from grace, satirize Hollywood’s love of rehabilitating the unrepentant, and willingness to turn on them when the sharks smell blood. We, the audience, love BoJack because of his failings. But the show reminds us that BoJack has repeatedly hurt the vulnerable, outright ruined the lives of others with his thoughtlessness, that his friends and family don’t want him in their lives anymore, for good reason.

But things have changed; Princess Carolyn and Diane aren’t going to be there to put up with his nonsense anymore. Even Todd has grown up and left the sofa, no longer a punching bag for BoJack’s problems. Although, Mr Peanutbutter will always be there, to some degree . BoJack reaches his lowest point during the penultimate episode, “The View From Halfway Down,” which is, in my view, the highlight of the final season. There’s always at least one episode per season where the show experiments with a new format; the silent underwater episode, the drug-fueled hallucination, the funeral monologue, Bojack’s tortured inner narrative, and Bojack’s death-dream.
