Hurricane Milton is set to make landfall in Florida on Wednesday, following closely on the heels of Hurricane Helene , from which the region is still recovering. Raymond James Managing Director Savi Syth joins Catalysts to discuss the potential impact of this major climate event on the airline industry.
Airline still recovering from closures and delays associated with hurricane Helene last week here to tell us which names could see the biggest impact.So it's great to have you on to discuss this. I think the secondary uh thing that we need to consider is what's the longer term or at least, uh, you know, lingering on for a month, two months, three months is what happens to, you know, the beach fronts happens to uh the destinations that that people would normally come visit in, in, you know, Tampa Saint Pete area and southwest Florida.
There's lots of questions already about what demand looks like whether or not we're going to see demand taper off, especially into that all important holiday season when there are events like this, especially what's happening in Florida with hurricanes so close.How, how do you factor that in to your modeling and, and I guess the the compound effect from the fact that there's two storms so close together.
But from a longer term perspective, again, I I think if you think about demand, uh some of that demand that would have gone to kind of western uh Florida might get diverted elsewhere.It's just airlines that are kind of exposed to that region might be a slightly longer impact.
