Canada and the hockey world are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the historic series this month and Foster Hewitt’s call: “Henderson has scored for Canada.”It was an eight-game, best-on-best series between Canada and what was then the Soviet Union. It started out as a friendly tournament between two hockey countries who knew little about each other and turned into a war for hockey supremacy that left Canada with a firm reminder that it wasn’t the only hockey superpower.
