The 151-year-old San Francisco Art Institute has closed for good after failed attempts to save the financially moribund school:
After multiple merger attempts, the historic but financially troubled San Francisco Art Institute , which operated for 151 years in the Bay Area, closed last Friday, July 15, for good.
“USF informed SFAI leadership that we would not enter into a definitive agreement with SFAI due to business risks that could negatively impact USF students, faculty, and staff,” Fitzgerald and Oparah said.longer financially viable.”The passing of this venerable institution is a loss for the entire art world, especially for SFAI’s friends, colleagues, and SFAI artists,” it added.
