perform at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Thursday night for the highly-anticipated 14th stop on the World War Joy North American fall tour.
The almost four-hour spectacle included stunts, lasers, hypnotic graphics, guest performances, and showstopping songs. After a 30-minute set from up-and-coming pop artist Stella, which included a magnetic performance of her hit single "Bitch," pop punk band 5 Seconds of Summer took the stage for a 16-song show. The Australian quartet, consisting of frontman Luke Hemmings, guitarist Michael Clifford, bassist Calum Hood, and drummer Ashton Irwin, rocked the stage with hit singles like "She Looks So Perfect" and "Youngblood.
However, screams from the crowd were loudest when the lights went down for the main act: the electronic group formed by Drew Taggart and Alex Pall. Their 90-minute set not only showcased the duo's chart-topping hits like "Closer" and "Something Just Like This," but also hyped the crowd up with intermittent motorcycle tricks, dance battles, and explosive drum solos. 1.
After announcing that he's having a "really good fucking time up here," the 5SOS bassist introduced each of his bandmates to the crowd, calling them his "brothers." Hood even called Hemmings "one of the greatest lead men I've ever known." Before moving on to performing their song "Amnesia," Hood thanked the fans in the crowd who have stuck by the band for eight years, requesting that the crowd sing the lyrics as loud as they can.
