The NDP leader warned the prime minister not to use the lack of consensus among the opposition parties as an excuse.
Trudeau seemed to want to find a way out of an inquiry when he told reporters this week he would need “full buy-in” from the opposition parties on any new process launched by the government to look into allegations of foreign interference — and on who should lead it.
“The negotiations are getting down to some of the details, and we’re requiring that the Liberals make sure every opposition leader that is recognized has input and that they are in agreement with the way forward,” Singh told Ivison. “Her daughter was a candidate for us. Of course, I think that she would be phenomenal. But Justice Arbour has maybe not the deepest connection, but some connection to the Trudeau Foundation. And that was exactly what the Bloc had said was their concern.”
