— is embarking on a departure from the steamy and spicy dishes he's known for and putting his hat in the dessert ring with a brand-new ice cream shop.
The new ice cream parlour, Kati, is the love child of a collaboration between Koh Lipe and Kensington dessert shop,Koh Lipe currently already offers a signature Thai Tea ice cream on their dessert menu, alongside Bi Co Moi, coconut ice cream served on top of black glutinous rice, but, Patrick tells blogTO, Kati's offerings will go far beyond that.
Toasted ice cream, Bun ice cream and Mango Sticky Rice ice cream are all on the menu, Patrick tells blogTO, alongside housemade recipes like Coconut Durian, Thai Tea, Pandan, Hibiscus Tea and Blue Pea Tea. The ice cream shop will also be licenced, Patrick adds, so a number of the flavours can be served topped with liquor to create a sweet, chilly cocktail.
While the exact opening date of the ice cream shop has yet to be pinned down precisely, Patrick tells blogTO that it should be open by early September, just in time to capture crowds eager for a cool treat in the last days of summer.
