The Longhorns have never won back-to-back Big 12 tournaments. And they haven’t won the regular season and tournament crown in the same year since 2003. That will all be in play for the Big 12 co-champions Sunday when they face either No. 2 seed Oklahoma or No. 3 seed Iowa State at 1 p.m. in the championship game.
Graduate guard Shaylee Gonzales was on the receiving end of a few of Harmon’s seeing-eye helpers, and she spaced the floor with a trio of 3-pointers to finish with a game-high 17 points. Junior guard Shay Holle worked had it going early, scoring seven of her 13 in the first quarter to help Texas take a 19-15 lead into the second period.
Fellow frontcourt starter Khdija Faye was hamstrung with some foul trouble but still managed to lead Texas with seven rebounds with two blocks and two steals in 23 minutes.
