Texas teachers let their voices be heard Wednesday at the State Capitol, where lawmakers are working on ways to reverse an exodus of instructors from the classroom.
The Lone Star State's front-line educators have leaped into the legislative trenches looking to secure a healthy share of the $31 billion budget surplus.
"I usually work 12-hour days and most weekends," said Recio. "The number of tasks teachers are required and expected to do in a day is astronomical and astronomically unsustainable if you talk to any Pre-K through 12 teachers in this state."It’s shaping up to be an interesting 2022-2023 school year as ongoing teacher shortages strain districts nationwide.
