Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on Thursday sued Google, alleging it violated privacy laws by illegally capturing and using the biometric data of millions of Texans' without their informed consent for almost a decade.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, shown outside the U.S. Supreme Court on November 01, 2021 in Washington, D.C. , said Friday that pre-Roe v Wade state laws outlawing abortion may now be in effect. The Texas Legislature had passed a “trigger law” to automatically ban abortion 30 days after the Supreme Court overturns Roe.

That personal information is unlike other sensitive information such as credit card numbers, passwords or Social Security numbers in that it is"part of our unique, human identity and cannot be simply erased or replaced when stolen," the suit states. Every face scan or voice recording that Google collects helps improve its technology and further establish itself as a leader in the tech industry, the suit argues.
